This tool is useful for anyone who needs a clean, uninterrupted color on a laptop, monitor, or phone display. For a more dependable visual check, set your display to a comfortable brightness and consider the room lighting before judging subtle differences between shades.
How to use Custom Color Screen
- Choose a color. Select one of the Quick colors, or use Color picker to choose a shade. You can also enter a value with HEX, RGB, or HSL, or adjust Hue, Saturation, and Lightness.
- Keep or share the value. Use Copy HEX to copy the selected color code, or select Share color to send a link that opens with that color.
- Show the color across the display. Select Fullscreen for a larger, distraction-free view. Select Exit fullscreen when you want to return to the page.
- Use the screen while cleaning. Select Cleaning mode; touches are ignored while it is active. Press and hold for 2 seconds to exit.
- Adjust the screen light or export an image. Under Screen light, adjust Display brightness, Warmth, and the Ring light frame controls, including Frame width. Set Sleep timer to Off, 5 min, 15 min, 30 min, or 60 min. To save a color, choose PNG, JPEG, or WEBP under Image format, then pick a Resolution or select Custom dimensions and enter Width (px) and Height (px). Select Download image.
When to use it
- Preview a design or brand shade: Enter its HEX, RGB, or HSL value and see the color by itself instead of surrounded by other design elements.
- Check a new display: Show bright or dark solid colors to look for pixels that appear different from the surrounding area. For a dedicated check, try the Dead Pixel Test.
- Clean a screen: Cleaning mode prevents accidental touches from changing the displayed color while you wipe the screen.
- Use a temporary screen light: Display a chosen color, then adjust Display brightness and Warmth to suit the task and your surroundings.
- Make a plain creative backdrop: Download a solid-color image for a photo, video, presentation, or design project that needs an even background.
- Keep a focus-friendly view: Fill the display with one calm shade when you want fewer visual distractions during a short task.
- Check color contrast in context: Compare a chosen shade on your own display before using it in a layout or presentation.
Tips for a useful color preview
For a specific reference color, entering its HEX, RGB, or HSL value is more repeatable than selecting a nearby shade by eye. Use Copy HEX if you need to paste the chosen value elsewhere, and Share color when someone else needs to open the same selection.
Remember that Display brightness and Warmth affect the color as it looks on the screen, not the underlying selected value. The tool notes that the HEX value and downloads stay exact when you adjust these screen-light controls. For a border-style light setup, use Ring light frame and adjust Frame width to your preference.
When making a file, choose a size that fits where it will be used. Preset resolutions include HD, Full HD, QHD, 4K UHD, and 8K UHD; Custom dimensions lets you enter the width and height yourself.
Limits to keep in mind
Custom Color Screen can show a color for visual inspection, but it cannot measure your monitor’s color accuracy or professionally calibrate it. The displayed result depends on the screen and its settings, so use a hardware calibrator or manufacturer support when you need a verified diagnosis or precise calibration.
Image dimensions must be 16–8192 pixels per side, with a maximum of 33,177,600 pixels total. 8K images need substantial memory and may fail on some devices. Image creation happens in your browser, and the images stay in your browser.
