This timer suits students, writers, and anyone who wants a clear boundary around a task without committing to a fixed daily schedule. Before you start, choose the phase lengths and the number of focus cycles before a long break; the display then shows the active phase, cycle count, and remaining time.
How to use Pomodoro Timer
- Set Focus minutes, Short break minutes, and Long break minutes to choose how long each phase lasts.
- Set Focus cycles before long break to choose how many focus cycles come before the longer pause.
- Select Start when you’re ready to begin. The display shows the current phase, focus-cycle count, and timer.
- Select Skip phase to move to the next phase early. When a phase ends, select Start to begin the next one.
- Select Reset or press R to reset the timer. Press Space to start or pause timers outside inputs.
- Select Fullscreen or press F for a larger view. Press Escape or select Exit fullscreen to leave fullscreen. In a native fullscreen scene, tap the scene or press Tab for dismissible exit controls.
- Select Hide controls to hide the controls, or Exit to leave the timer.
When to use it
- Exam revision: Focus on one topic for a chosen interval, then take a short break before moving on.
- Writing or research: Break a large assignment into work periods and use the long break after your chosen number of cycles.
- Task-focused work: Give one task your attention for a set time, then use the break to pause or switch tasks.
- Planning a study session: Set phase lengths that fit the material and the amount of time you have available.
- Classwork or teaching: Time an independent activity or lesson segment, then decide when to begin the next phase.
- Household tasks: Keep a focus interval visible while you work and use a break as a natural stopping point.
- Presentation practice: Time a rehearsal or one section, then choose when to start practising again.
Tips for using the timer
Choose durations to suit the task rather than treating one schedule as right for every day. A demanding revision block may call for a different rhythm from a quick everyday chore. Set Focus cycles before long break according to when you want the longer pause, and check the displayed phase and cycle count when you return to the timer, especially if you used Skip phase.
The display is labeled Browser timer · no audio, so arrange another reminder if you need a sound alert. Preferences may be stored locally, without accounts.
Limits
Pomodoro Timer organizes focus and break phases, but it does not provide sound alerts, session history, work records, or schedule management. If you need an audible prompt, use a separate reminder; for tracking completed work or managing a detailed schedule, a dedicated timer or planning app may be a better fit.
A missed deadline completes one session only; the next session waits for Start. Reloading the page resets the active session, so avoid refreshing while you want that session to continue. Pomodoro Timer is best used as a simple pacing aid: it leaves you in control of when the next phase begins.
