A bright screen can make small marks easier to notice, while a simple white field gives you a plain surface to work against. Before you begin, set your device where you can see the display comfortably; the result depends on the screen and its current display settings.
How to use White Screen
- Select White under Quick colors to show a plain white color. The other quick colors are there if you need to compare the display against a different color.
- Select Fullscreen for a larger color-only view. Use Exit fullscreen to return to the controls.
- To clean the display, turn on Cleaning mode. Touches are ignored while it is active; press and hold for 2 seconds to exit.
- For light adjustments, use Screen light and Display brightness. You can also use Ring light frame with Frame width, Warmth, and Brightness. The Sleep timer options are Off, 5 min, 15 min, 30 min, and 60 min.
- To save a white background, go to Download a solid-color image. Choose an Image format (PNG, JPEG, or WEBP), select a Resolution or Custom dimensions, then use Download image.
- For a custom color instead, use Choose a custom color and the Color picker. The HEX, RGB, and HSL fields and Hue, Saturation, and Lightness controls let you specify it; Reset, Copy HEX, and Share color are also available.
When to use it
- Before cleaning a display: a white field can help reveal fingerprints, smudges, and dust against the lit screen.
- Checking a new monitor or laptop: look over the white area for visible marks or uneven patches while you are still within the return period. For a more structured visual check, try the Dead Pixel Test.
- As soft fill light on a video call: place the display in front of you or nearby to add light to your face. Adjust the screen’s brightness to suit the room.
- Tracing a drawing: place thin paper over a tablet or other suitable display and use the bright field as a backlight.
- Making a plain video background: show the white screen on a separate display when a clean, uncluttered surface is useful.
- Photographing small objects: use the screen as a simple background or nearby light source when you want a plain setup.
- Reading in a dim room: use the display as a small area of light when you need a quick, adjustable alternative to a lamp.
Tips for a clearer result
- For spotting smudges: view the screen from a slight angle as well as straight on; reflected light can make marks easier to see.
- For cleaning: enable Cleaning mode before touching the display so taps do not change the page. Remember to press and hold for 2 seconds when you want to exit.
- For accurate color values: Screen light brightness and warmth change how the page looks, but they do not change the HEX value or downloaded image.
- For image downloads: choose a preset such as Full HD or 4K UHD, or enter Width (px) and Height (px) under Custom dimensions. Images stay in your browser.
- For very large files: the image tool allows 16–8192 pixels per side and up to 33,177,600 pixels total. 8K needs substantial memory and may fail on some devices.
Limits of White Screen
White Screen displays a color; it does not measure brightness, diagnose screen faults, or professionally calibrate a monitor. The white may look different from one display to another because each screen and its settings affect the result. A plain white field can help you notice a visible issue, but it cannot confirm the cause or fix it. For reliable calibration or a suspected hardware problem, use appropriate measuring equipment or contact the device manufacturer.
