If you are checking an unfamiliar display, open the page on the screen you want to inspect and set that display to a comfortable viewing level first. The solid field can also provide a simple visual reference while you work on a phone, tablet, laptop, or monitor.
How to use Yellow Screen
- Choose Yellow under Quick colors to show the preset, or use Color picker and the HEX, RGB, or HSL controls to select another shade. The preset value is #FFFF00.
- Select Fullscreen for a larger, uncluttered color view. Select Exit fullscreen to return to the page controls.
- For screen care, select Cleaning mode. Touches are ignored; press and hold for 2 seconds to exit.
- Under Screen light, adjust Display brightness and Warmth to change how the on-page color looks. You can also use Ring light frame and adjust Frame width. The Sleep timer options are Off, 5 min, 15 min, 30 min, and 60 min.
- To save an image, select an Image format (PNG, JPEG, or WEBP), then choose a Resolution or Custom dimensions. Enter Width (px) and Height (px) if needed, then select Download image. Copy HEX, Share color, and Copy value manually are available for working with the color value.
When to use it
- Inspect a new monitor during its return window: Yellow lights the red and green subpixels together, making a missing one appear as a differently tinted dot.
- Look for a suspicious pixel on a phone or laptop: Fill the display with one color to make a spot easier to notice.
- Clean a touchscreen: Cleaning mode helps prevent touches from changing what is displayed while you wipe the surface.
- Add a warm accent light: Use the screen as a simple yellow light source in a room or workspace.
- Make a photo or video backdrop: Display the color on a spare screen or download an image for a project.
- Use a bright visual cue while focusing: Keep the solid color visible as a simple background or reminder during a task.
Tips for a useful yellow screen
For pixel inspection, look for a dot that stands out from the surrounding yellow rather than relying on the overall color alone. Yellow can show red-and-green subpixel issues together, but it does not test each color channel separately; try the Dead Pixel Test for a more focused screen check.
Keep in mind that Display brightness and Warmth affect only the appearance of the page. The HEX value and downloaded images stay exact, so use the color value or image when you need a consistent yellow for another task. If you create a large image, choose a size that your device can handle.
Limits of Yellow Screen
A yellow screen is a visual aid, not a hardware diagnosis or professional display calibration. Its appearance can vary with your display settings, and viewing yellow alone cannot confirm every type of pixel or panel problem. If a defect remains visible across colors or affects normal use, consult the display manufacturer or a repair professional.
Image downloads are created in your browser. Custom dimensions must be 16–8192 pixels per side and the image can contain up to 33,177,600 pixels total; 8K needs substantial memory and may fail on some devices. For an exact export, remember that on-screen brightness and warmth do not change the HEX value or downloaded image.
