Use the controls to switch between a ready-made magenta and a custom shade, then choose whether to view it on screen or save it as an image. This can be useful on a laptop, desktop monitor, tablet or phone when you want a simple, uninterrupted field of color.
How to use Magenta Screen
- Choose Magenta under Quick colors to show the preset, or use Choose a custom color and the Color picker to edit the shade. The color controls include HEX, RGB, HSL, Hue, Saturation and Lightness.
- Use Reset to return to the default color. Copy HEX copies the displayed color code, and Share color lets you share the color.
- For wiping the display, select Cleaning mode. Touches are ignored while it is active; press and hold for 2 seconds to exit.
- Select Fullscreen for a larger, color-only view. Use Exit fullscreen to leave that view.
- Under Screen light, adjust Display brightness or Warmth, choose a Sleep timer option (Off, 5 min, 15 min, 30 min or 60 min), or use Ring light frame and Frame width. Brightness and warmth change only the screen’s appearance; the HEX value and downloaded image remain exact.
- To save a file, go to Download a solid-color image, choose an Image format (PNG, JPEG or WEBP) and a Resolution, then select Download image. Choose Custom dimensions to enter Width (px) and Height (px).
When to use it
- Checking a new screen: Display magenta before a return window ends and look for dark or unusual areas where red or blue subpixels may not be lighting properly.
- Inspecting a suspected pixel issue: Magenta lights red and blue subpixels together, making some faults easier to notice. For a more systematic check across colors, try the Dead Pixel Test.
- Cleaning a laptop or phone screen: Cleaning mode prevents touches from changing the page while you wipe the display.
- Adding accent light: Show a vivid field of color on a spare monitor or phone when you need a bright magenta visual in your space.
- Making a photo or video backdrop: Use the screen as a solid-color background for a shot, especially when a strong pink-purple tone suits the scene.
- Creating a matching background file: Download a solid magenta image at a chosen size for use in a project or on another display.
- Setting a visual focus point: Keep a simple, consistent color on screen when a bold visual marker is more useful than a detailed background.
Tips for a useful magenta screen
For a pixel check, view the screen from a normal working distance and look across the whole panel; if a spot seems abnormal, compare it with other colors before drawing a conclusion. A magenta field activates red and blue subpixels together, so it does not show every possible pixel fault.
If you are preparing a file, choose its resolution before downloading. Custom dimensions must be between 16 and 8192 pixels per side, with a maximum total of 33,177,600 pixels. 8K exports use substantial memory and may fail on some devices. Images stay in your browser.
Screen light adjustments are useful for changing how the color looks while displayed, but they do not alter the saved color value. If you need an exact shade in another application, use Copy HEX or Copy value manually rather than judging it only by appearance.
Limits of Magenta Screen
A full-screen color is a visual aid, not a hardware diagnosis or professional monitor calibration. The way magenta looks depends on the display and its settings, and a single color cannot confirm the cause of a mark or prove that a screen is functioning correctly.
Use this screen as a quick first look, then check a suspected fault with a broader test or contact the display manufacturer if the issue persists. For pixel checks that compare multiple colors, the Dead Pixel Test is a better next step. For exact color work, use a suitable calibration device or workflow rather than relying on a browser color field.
